Help & answers
Skip hire FAQs
Do I need a permit for a skip?
If the skip sits entirely on private land such as your driveway, no permit is needed. If it must be placed on a public road or pavement, a council permit is legally required. We arrange this on your behalf, just tell us at the time of booking.
How quickly can you deliver?
For towns nearest our Faringdon depot we offer same-day or next-day delivery when booked before 10am. Most of our coverage area gets next-day or within 1–2 working days.
How long is the standard hire period?
Standard hire is 14 days. If you need the skip for longer, let us know when booking and we will confirm any extension and cost.
What can I NOT put in a skip?
Prohibited items include fridges and freezers, TVs and monitors, fluorescent tubes, all batteries, tyres, asbestos, plasterboard (separate collection), paint, oils, solvents and any hazardous chemicals. Ask us about dedicated collection for these.
Which skip size do I need?
As a guide: a 4-yard for heavy rubble/soil; a 6-yard as the all-round builders choice; an 8-yard for bulky household clearances; and 20–40 yard RoRo skips for commercial volumes. The rule of thumb is heavy waste = smaller skip, bulky-but-light waste = larger skip.
How much does skip hire cost?
Our skips start from £95+VAT for a 2-yard mini and scale up to £525+VAT for a 40-yard RoRo. The price you pay depends on size, location and waste type. Every quote is fixed and includes delivery, collection and disposal.
Can the skip go on the road?
Yes, with a council permit which we arrange. You may also need lamps and safety markings, which we supply. Lead times can be longer for on-road placements, especially in controlled-parking zones.
What happens to the waste?
As a licensed waste carrier (licence CBDU123456) we take all waste to permitted transfer stations. Over 90% is sorted for recycling rather than landfill, and you receive a waste transfer note.
Do you offer trade accounts?
Yes. Builders, landscapers and commercial clients can open a trade account with priority booking and monthly invoicing. Contact us to set one up.
How do I pay?
When you book online we confirm availability and send a receipt. Payment can be made by card or bank transfer. Trade accounts are invoiced monthly.
